108 is a very important number in the Buddhist and Hindu religion. It is regularly found in spirituality. It is the number of asanas that exist in the practice of yoga. Malas are therefore usually made with a number of beads referring to 108. Thus, its owner can say the correct number of mantras without getting confused.

In effect, the mala serves as a medium for prayers. The practitioner uses the mala to focus his or her mind on reciting the mantras. It can be likened to rosaries in other religions.

Traditionally, the mala necklace is made with Rudraksha beads. They are indeed revered in Asian countries as they contain great energy. They are harvested from the foot of a tree grown in India.

The smaller they are, the more sacred and rare they are considered. On the Divine Expression necklace, the Rudraksha beads are 4mm in diameter. They are alternated with semi-precious chalcedony stones.

Caledony gives us the ability to communicate, but also to listen. The other and ourselves. This introspection allows us to understand our emotions, our feelings. We also learn to apprehend the people around us to connect with them in joy.

This combination of stones connects us to the fifth and sixth chakras. And for good reason, the throat chakra is also the chakra of communication, of self-expression. The 3rd eye chakra resonates with our intuitions, insight and independence.

Care instructions
We invite you to perform the following ritual, when you receive your mala. This will allow you to create a personal connection with your necklace and its stones.

  • Start wearing your mala on a Monday. This is indeed the holy day dedicated to Shiva.
  • Sit down in a quiet room. Find the place where you can relax.
  • In a container of water, place some flowers and dip your mala in it.
  • To help your mind and body relax, light a stick of incense.
  • Once you have reached a level of serenity, cleanse each of the beads in your mala. Convey your intentions to it and imagine that it protects you and brings you inner peace.
  • Repeat the mantra “OM HREEM NAMAH SHIVAYA OM” which represents the tears of Shiva.
  • Your mala is now carrying energy. All you have to do is wear it and enjoy its benefits.

In any case, your mala is an energy carrier because of the materials it is made of. You are therefore not obliged to go through this ceremony.

Wearing your mala regularly, the beads will absorb a lot of energy. So from time to time you need to discharge them in order to start afresh. To do this:

  • Turn on your tap and position the necklace under running water
  • Touch each bead with the intention of cleaning it
  • To dry, ideally hang the necklace outside. Once dry, a little natural oil on each bead will help them gain shine
It's perfect for
Yin yoga, Restorative yoga, Yoga nidra, Meditation, Mindfulness, Casual wear, On the way to the studio, Cocooning at home
Why we love it
We love the pastel blue colour of the chalcedony stones. Filled with purity and softness, they invite us to refocus on ourselves.

Learning to listen to oneself and understand one’s own emotions is important to enable letting go in one’s daily life. Chalcedony helps us to do this in a discreet way. It is a stone to embrace when seeking to maintain successful relationships.

We wear this necklace to complement our outfits, or for a meditation session. Worn around the wrist, it also makes a beautiful bracelet.
